King Abdullah II of Jordan supported the idea of creating an analogue of NATO in the Middle East. It is reported by CNBC.
“I will be one of the first people to support the Middle East NATO,” he said. According to him, the role of such a military alliance should be clearly defined. He added that “otherwise, he will embarrass everyone.”
Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Washington was abandoning confrontation and the Cold War in the Indo-Pacific region, as well as the creation of an Asian analogue of NATO. “I would like to make it clear that we do not seek confrontation or conflict. We also don’t want a new Cold War, an Asian NATO, or a fragmentation of the region into warring blocs,” he said.
